CO-CURRICULAR
Event Calendar
Academic excellence and excellence in co-curricular activities are two sides of the same coin. Keeping this in mind, the school organizes varied events throughout the year. All students, irrespective of their backgrounds are encouraged to actively participate in each and every event of the school. The school leaders along with the talented teachers are responsible for conducting the various events.
Orientation Days:
We kickstart every academic year in June with Orientation Days. Parents are invited to the classrooms of their wards and are introduced to the teachers. Expectations are set on both sides and the rules and regulations of the school are explained. It is also a chance for the parents to get to know the teachers, discuss any outstanding issues and to familiarise themselves with the school policies.
International Yoga Day:
International Yoga Day is celebrated on the 21st of June. Not only do the students practice yoga together but also listen to talks and presentations about the history and importance of yoga.
Investiture Ceremony:
The investiture ceremony involves the selection and the appointment of the student leaders for various posts such as School Head Boy, School Head Girl, Games Captain, Games Vice-Captain, House Captains, and House Vice-Captains.
On the day of the Investiture Ceremony, the elected student leaders are given their badges and are assigned their duties.
The main aim is to inculcate the leadership qualities and imbibe the principles of democracy. The student leaders represent the students and help bring to light their problems and views to the management and help to bridge the gap between the students and the management.
Talents Day:
“Hide not your talents, they for use were made. What’s a sun- dial in the shade?” – Benjamin Franklin
Talents’ Day is one of our favourite
events. The staff make sure that every single student of the school
participates in one event or the other. This is a day when the school bursts
with colour, laughter, song and enthusiasm from everyone. The competitions are
always chosen based on the age-group. Students get a platform to bring out
their talent in various types of competitions such as fancy dress, drawing,
painting, singing, vegetable carving, modelling, collage-making, speech
presentation, essay-writing, mehendi, rangoli, mimicry, educational model etc. The
effort of every child is recognised with participation certificates while the
winners are awarded prizes on Independence Day.
Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanthi and Republic Day
At BMHS, we celebrate Independence Day with great fervour and patriotism. March past, flag hoisting ceremony, singing of patriotic songs, tricolour displays form a part of the event. We conclude the celebrations with distribution of prizes and sweets.

A wide variety of literary competitions are organised for the entire school in English, Hindi and Kannada. Literary clubs conduct elocutions, declamations, debates and creative writing competitions for middle and high school. The primary section participates in recitation, story-telling, short speech competitions.
These inter-class competitions nurture a healthy competitive spirit among the students and provides a platform for developing speaking and presentation skills. The students are honoured and encouraged with certificates and prizes.
Inter-House Matches/Tournaments are held in basketball, throwball, volleyball, kho-kho, kabaddi, badminton and track events. Students undergo rigorous training session every day. The inter-house matches are a matter of pride and honour among the students. These matches and tournaments build the quality of sportsmanship in each student. Children are encouraged by giving them certificates and the medals during the Annual Sports Meet.
Teachers’ Day:
Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year in our school on 5th September to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. His dedicated service as a teacher is remembered. Students take the opportunity to express gratitude and love for their teachers with handmade greeting cards. Senior students coordinate with junior students to put up a colourful programme that includes jokes, dance, songs and games for the teachers. Celebration of this day inculcates in each student the sense of respect towards the teachers. The school management makes the day extra special by giving the teachers a small token of gratitude.
Children’s Day:
The birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, is celebrated as Children’s Day every year. At BMHS, we make sure that the day is celebrated with pomp. The classrooms are decorated with balloons and streamers. Each teacher is involved in making the children feel special. The children are treated to a variety of snacks and goodies and each child is sent home with a surprise gift as well!
