Events

Academic excellence and excellence in co-curricular activities are two sides of the same coin. Keeping this in mind, the school organizes varied events throughout the year. Students are actively involved in inter-class and inter-house events. The school leaders along with the talented teachers are responsible for conducting the various events.

The events are as follows:

Investiture Ceremony:

The investiture ceremony takes place every year with great enthusiasm among the student community. Selection of the student leaders for various posts like School Head Boy, School Head Girl, Games Captain and Games Vice-Captain are held.

Coordinators hold canvassing and presentations. Captains and Vice Captains of different Houses are also elected. The student leaders get ready to organise, coordinate and lead all the activities of the school with the help of the teachers. On the day of the Investiture Ceremony, the elected student leaders are given their badges and are assigned their duties.

The main aim is to inculcate the leadership qualities in a student from the beginning itself and imbibe in them the principles of democracy. The student leaders represent the students and help bring to light their problems and views to the management. The student leaders help to bridge the gap between the students and the management.

Each child right from Nursery to Class 10 participate in the Talents Day. Students get a platform to bring out their talent in various fields. We make sure that every child participates in some or the other event. Fancy dress, drawing, painting, singing, vegetable carving, modelling, collage art, speaking on the spot, making speeches, mehandi, rangoli, hair dressing, educational model etc, are some of the events that the children participate.

The effort of every child is recognised with participation certificates and the winners are awarded prizes on the Independence Day.

Independence Day

The national festivals of our country arecelebrated at BMHS with great fervour and patriotic spirit. The students are made aware of the importance of these days.

Independence Day and Republic Day are celebrated with March past, flag hoisting ceremony, cultural shows, singing of patriotic songs, tricolour displays and is concluded with the distribution of prizes and sweets.

Interclass Activities:

Students of Classes 4 to 10 are exposed to Inter Class Science Quiz competitions apart from General Quiz, Debate and Seminars. Literary Clubs conduct elocutions, declamations, debates and creative writing competitions. The Inter Class competition nurtures a healthy competitive spirit among the students. It also provides a platform for developing speaking skills and presentation skills.

The lower classes participate in recitation, story-telling, short speeches in all the languages taught in school (English, Hindi
and Kannada). Exposure to such events from an early age encourages the students to discover their potential and talents. It helps children to improve their vocabulary and speaking skills. The students are honoured and encouraged
with certificates and prizes. Care is taken to give each and every child the platform to participate.

Sports activities (Tournaments)

Inter House Matches/Tournaments are held in Basket Ball, Throw Ball, Volley Ball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, badminton and relay. Students undergo rigorous training session every day.
The Inter House matches are a great matter of pride and honour among the students. These matches and tournaments build the quality of sportsmanship in each student. Children are encouraged with the certificates and the medals

Children clustered in playing band instruments are given special
training. A school band regularly functions for all events.

Teacher’s Day:

Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year in our school on 5th September. Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Ex-President of India was born on this day. His dedication of service as a teacher is remembered by every child on this day. Students take pride and enthusiasm in showing excellent gestures right from welcoming, honouring and thanking their teachers with handmade greeting cards. Senior students coordinate with junior students to put up a colourful programme that includes jokes, dance, songs and games for the teachers. Celebration of this day inculcates in each student the sense of respect towards the teachers. It is also a day when the students express their love and gratitude to the teachers.

Gandhi Jayanti:

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It is celebrated annually on 2nd October. Senior children speak on Gandhiji. Junior children dress up like Gandhiji. Few children present models of various struggle Gandhiji underwent to bring freedom to our country. Swachh Bharat is observed on this day

Children’s Day:

Birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime minister falls on 14th November. The day is celebrated as Children’s Day, as a mark of respect to his love for children.

Teachers celebrate this day with lot of personal care mixed with variety entertainments. The day is made memorable by organising various events and games.

The children are treated to variety of snacks and goodies. Each child is sent home with a surprise gift also! Children indeed look forward to this fun-filled day.

Sports Day:

The Annual Sports Day of BMHS begins with solemn March Past by the students of Class 7 to 10. The March Past is led by the school head boy, school head girl, games captain and games vice-captain. The students march smartly in their house formation led by their house captains and vice captains. After

Event is the Tug-O-War for girls and boys and the captain’s and vice captain’s races. The  closing March Past brings the Annual Sports event to an end. The school flag is handed over to the chief guest by the school head girl and the principal of the school collects it from the chief guest. Students collect snack packets and thus the day ends to an enthralling sports activity. The Annual Sports Day is one of the most exciting events.

Annual Day:


The Annual Day at BMHS is a remarkable day for the meritorious students in academics. Gold medals are presented to the rank students of the Board examination. Prizes in the form of books are given to the rank students from Nursery upto Class 9. It is a day of cultural and musical extravaganza. The whole cultural programme is based on a particular theme. Every student of BMHS actively participates in the Annual Day. The audience is taken to entirely different world for about two hours. Melodious music, graceful steps and movements are the hallmarks of this day. Students eagerly wait for this event.

Martyrs’ Day:

30 th January – The Martyr’s day is remembered. The teachers and students join together to pay respect to the Martyrs of our country. A solemn prayer is held at 11 am and the importance of the day is explained to the children by the teachers.

Exhibition:

An annual exhibition on science, Social science, Mathematics, Literature, art, painting and KG activities are displayed in very useful, educational and creative way. This teamwork of teachers and students develop the hidden skillful talent of each child. This exposure gives lot of courage and confidence to go further. This is an educational value event.

Saraswathi Pooja:

Each student of Class 10 faces the Board Exam during the month of March or April. They are trained all through the year to face this exam. As nothing is possible without God’s grace, the board Hall Tickets are placed in front of Goddess Saraswati, the bestower of knowledge and learning to seek Her blessings. The students along with the teachers pray for good health and strength to face the examinations. Students are taught to follow the principle
